What are PPAs?
PPAs, or “Power Purchase Agreements”, are contracts between a renewable energy producer and a consumer (off-taker). PPA contracts set the terms for selling renewable electricity from a producer to a consumer over a long period of time. They can last anywhere from 3 to over 25 years. Although it can technically apply to power purchase contracts for any type of energy, a “Power Purchase Agreement” typically refers to buying renewable energy.
